Strathearn Stories Podcast - Six months on!

The Strathearn Stories Podcast is a community-focused podcast created by Johnston Media in Crieff, designed to celebrate the people, businesses, organisations, and stories that make Strathearn unique.

The core idea behind the show is simple: “Real people. Real stories. Local voices.”

It’s positioned as more than just a business podcast. The format blends:

  • Local business stories
  • Community projects
  • Tourism and heritage
  • Charity initiatives
  • Creative and cultural conversations
  • Personal journeys from people across Perthshire and Strathearn

Episodes are usually relaxed, conversational “fireside chat” style interviews recorded in Johnston Media’s Crieff podcast studio, with professional multi-camera production and distribution across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

Some of the themes and guests featured so far include:

  • Sensory and wellbeing projects in Crieff
  • Community radio and local media
  • Scottish heritage and tartan culture
  • Tourism and local business growth
  • Creative industries and publishing
  • Community development and inclusion initiatives
  •

Recent examples include:

  • Nadia McNicol discussing the vision for “What The Sense,” a sensory and illusion activity centre in Crieff
  • Scotland Shop talking about tartan, identity, and Scottish heritage
  • Heartland FM discussing rural radio and community engagement in Perthshire (Apple Podcasts)

A big part of the project is also about:

  • Preserving local stories
  • giving smaller organisations a platform
  • Creating evergreen digital content for the area
  • Strengthening the sense of community identity in Strathearn

The podcast also acts as a showcase for Johnston Media’s wider production services — demonstrating studio podcasts, portable podcast setups, editing, distribution, and branded content creation. The production side is tied into the wider Johnston Media podcast network, which includes shows connected to Stirling, Perthshire, charities, and business communities. (Strathearn Stories)
